Dr. Elaine Crain is a board-certified family nurse practitioner working in primary and urgent care since 2001. She began her nursing career as an emergency room and critical care nurse; and served as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service.
She received her Doctorate in Nursing Practice with a focus on Leadership and Legislation from Frontier Nursing University, KY. She has a Master’s in Nursing from Bowie State University, a master’s with a nursing focus from Pace University, NY and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of the South, Sewanee, TN.
Dr. Crain serves on the Board of the Maryland Academy of Advanced Practice Clinicians and on the Maryland Nurses Association Legislative Committees. She has won peer-reviewed awards for her legislative work in Maryland, the AANP State Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice in 2011, the AANP the State Award for Excellence in Advocacy in 2019 and the MNA’s Rosalie Silber Abrams Legislative Award in 2020.
Outside the office, Elaine lives in Annapolis with her husband; is happiest creating innovative dishes from local ingredients and spending long lazy hours on the Chesapeake’s beautiful bay and waterways.
